A Card is Born - Where ideas come from -

Soooo, one of the things I'm often asked is where do I come up with ideas for my Funny Women Cards that I sell in my Etsy VanityGallery.  Wellllll, this video will give you a little insight!

This character, who I will be naming shortly, will be featured on some of my upcoming cards.  She's a  woman worn by the elements of her life and she wears it all with pride!  I was scrolling TikTok (where I also have funny Vanity Observations at CollenekennedyFab) and this real life person kept popping up on my FYP.

I simply loved her fab, slightly worn vibe and translated into a character.  Her hair is very large and I suspect a badge of vanity to her.  I had to doodle her the moment I saw her.  As for what she's saying, this is one of those times that the drawing came and the text came at the same time!

What would you do if life gave you lemons?  As an eternally optimistic person, I'm always making lemonade with them, but I confess I rather like the suggestion of my character!  How bout' you?

Oh, bonus, if you purchase even a single card from my VanityGallery on Etsy and message me you discovered my cards on my Fab'log, I'll include a freebie card to you - of your choice of my 200 cards posted in my store!

Do you do it everyday??? Every single day?

There is not a day that I don't do it!  I'm talking about accessorizing!  Whether I'm going out, staying in, feeling great, have a cold, going to see lotsa' people, will see nobody, there's not a day that goes by that I don't accessorize!

I feel like that little or lot of decoration is like seasoning on plain food; it gives flavor!  I actually tend to create a theme everyday and because I have far more jewelry, mostly costume, but there's real in there to, it's easy to come up with themes.  And by finding much in thrift stores, vintage shops, garage sales, Good Will, etc., hopefully I reflect you don't have to spend a million to look like a million!  I'm actually more likely to brag about my finds as soooooo much of the time, I find goodies for under $10!

Since my VanityCases characters in my VanityCasesGreeting cards are an extension of moi, much of the humor is about accessorizing...oh, and good hair, lipstick, shoes, etc!  I hope you'll come take a look aby clicking on the links provided!

Bug Off! How to write & sell funny greeting cards - like Bug Off!

Okay, I'm still fairly new to creating my YoutTubeChannel and I am having a hoot!  It's just like creating the cards, a creative outlet- for which I only wish I had more hours in the day to devote!

I'm hopefully giving you creative insight to how I come up with Vanity Cases card ideas!  I don't think I'm speaking for myself, based on having sold 10,000+ card sales from my VanityGallery on etsy, that vanity can be sanity!

When we look good, we feel good and when we feel good, we do good!  R'eye'eeeeeet?!

That being said, there is so much humor that emerges for me in creating cards for which Vanity is rhe nucleus of the humor!  I invited you to watch the video, perhaps like and subscribe and I also invite any ideas you may want me to build on!

Some people need coffee, I need lipstick!

It's the switch that turns a face on!

It's color, not caffeine that I need!  Lipstick is not only the switch that turns my face on, it's the component that makes me, ME!  And when it comes to lipstick, in my lil' ol' opinion, red is the only color.  It truly gives me life!  I think red lipstick is to the face, what pearls are to a black dress; always classic and always works!

Since I overdraw my lip line, putting on lipstick is my first creative endeavor of the day and once it's on, the pop of color motivates me to move forward with a raised eyebrow and a smile to see what lies ahead.  I have found a way to keep my red on from first application in the early morning until the end of a long day, with only a slight topcoat touch up.

I start with an outline with a red pencil, fill in with Maybelline ink in a shade of red of course and when that dries, I tap on a little of Maybelline Vinyl, which is also a long lasting stain -- that stays shiny for hours!  When I touch up, I usually tap on a little classic Revlon Love That Red. Oh, and I sometimes use the Love that Red as blush smudging a touch on to the cheeks.  What's not to love about a product that does so much for the outside and therefore the inside!

Over the years I've become known for my signature red lipstick and truly never so much as step outside the house without it on! I suppose I'm a red lipstick addict!  As a result, I often create Lipstick Life Lines," in my funny women greeting card humor!

It is my belief truly anyone can wear red as long as they "own" it and find the shade that suits them.  It's very empowering and completes any face transforming it with a puncuation of a timeless and classic style that truly works with any outfit!

Think about it; who wouldn't look fab' with a face ensemble of red lipstick, sunglasses, and perhaps a bit of powder.  Oh and the lipstick can also be used as blush with a wee smudge on the cheeks.

So while some people may need coffee to start their day for me it's red lipstick that gives me energy and a certain fabulous quotient!

On another note, if you'd like to see the lipstick shade I use check out my latest tiktok at @collenekennedyfab
