Do you have a personal dress code?

I live by what I call the Norma Desmond Dress Code as I share on my YouTubeChannel!  I'm always ready for my close up!  What I mean by that, I invest energy every single day in my appearance because frankly, brushed hair, blushed cheeks and naturally a lil' lipstick and of course red, can effect your mood, tude' and the confidence you exude!

It is my belief that the credo of my Vanity Cases characters on my funny women greeting cards have it right, "Who cares how you feel on the inside, as long as you look fabulous on the outside?!

If I could tell my 20-year old self anything...

 If I could tell my 20--year old anything it would be wear the bikini and dance around the house or on the beach in it!  Amazing how in our youth we can't see how fabulous we are!  I say appreciate what ya' got now no matter the age and stage because in a few years you'll be nostalgic for what you had and/or have!

Although, I do confess, while the boobs and butt aren't in the same place past a certain age, neither is the brain and it's the brain that makes us fabulous!  Okay, it's the brain, good accessories and the perfect lipstick color!  Who says we can't be deep and fabulous!?

How to fold a hoody...in a fabulous way!

 I call this hoody origami!

Hoodies and sweatshirts can be such clumps of fabric and take up way too much storage space! So I know this very off topic for me, but here's a fabulous way to fold them!

Maybe it's not so way off!  The characters on my funny women cards, (see here: VanityGallery), believe everything should be done with a little flare ... and so do I, so why not adding a fab' way to fold hoodie?!

 never mind the number - not important!  The text was inspired by headlines a few years ago & I still find it true!  Although, saying I'm 39 is no longer plausible!  I'm still fabulous just no longer passing for 39 ...or so!  I have no issue with my age, I just don't want to be put in a box so I find leaving it blurry works best for me!

Why not make the most mundane things we have to do, a lil' more fabulous?!

I luuuuuuve folding things and am always looking for a new fangled way to make my item compact.  I may post some more of my folding videos...however, hopefully Husband won't be walking in the background as he did with this one!

A day without accessories....

This may be a manic lookin' reflection of moi - but this is how I feel at the thought of a day without accessories!   For me it's brush teeth, contact lenses, make up & Dear Gad, accessories!  

Every day it's a race to the elbow with brackets, a couple of short, stacked necklaces and always a long one with an interesting object or perhaps two long ones!  And yes, this is true no matter the season!  

For me, a day without accessories, is like a day without wine... again, some things are simply unimaginable!

*Actually, it's summer, so I keep the glass of wine (or two) to the weekends - It's a calorie count thing for me!

Just because it's raining...

 I did this a long ago & I still believe what my character is saying!  

I am a toxically positive thinker!  I'm truly always looking for the sunny side of a situation or what can I learn from it.  But I'm also a realist so combine the two elements and you get a Pragmatic Optimist!  Yup, that's me!  I see what is real but I try to see how to see the best of whatever it is! 

And rain????  I started carrying a red umbrella when I lived in New York a millionty years ago and have continued ever since.  Because it is true, that even thought it's raining, if you carry a red umbrella, it will do wonders for the look of your complexion!

It seems I may have to turn this into one of my Funny Women Greeting cards and add to my VanityGallery on Etsy!

Isn't this the truth?

 Fabulous birds of a feather flock together - true dat'!

The older I get, the more I realize, I don't want drama, but rather fabulous people, a fat free brownie and the perfect lipstick color!  Right?  For this reason, it's a gewd' idea to surround one's self with people that bring out the best in each other.  And when you find those people, friends, that bring out your fabulousity, celebrate em'!  

Make someone feel fabulous and the return is YOU feel fabulous!  

Who is fabulous anyway?  To me, it's someone who makes you feel special whether you're decorated with accessories and red lipstick (as I always am), or you have a simple esthetic.  I also think being fabulous has to do with authenticity combined with an invisible spark - a spark of energy that's hard to explain!  And when you know you have that spark, it's knowing how to shine it where it needs shining.  Sometimes, that means, shining it on ourselves!  

When people make you feel good about yourself, you want to hold em' tight but for Lawd's sake, most importantly make yourself feel special!  Celebrate yourself even if it's just with a daily chant of, "I'm fab', I know it & in my way, I show it!  

Really, that's the core of who my Vanity Cases characters are on my Vanity Cases greeting cards - I hope you'll come take a look!

 I just wanted to take a moment to thank y'all' for stopping by my Fab'log aka my Fabulous Log!

I'm doing a lot of summer side-hustles, which is a bit different than my usual summer schedule!  There are two things I luuuuuve!  Art and being creative writing and drawing my funny women greeting cards as well as being with children!  I'm a regular, accessorized Pied Piper! 

I've found a way to balance both this summer and am trying like crazy to revel in any down-time.  But I don't know about you, but I'm not a "down-time" kinda' person so I like always being in a race, even if it's with myself!  That being said, I do my best to find time after I finish workin to meditate each day.  It may at times only be 8 minutes but they can be invaluable!  That fits with what I call being a bleached blonde practicing Buddhist!

I hate to say it but some women....

  

 I hate to say it, but some women can be such mean be'otches!  R'eye'eeeeeet?!

Someone recently asked me if I ever had any conflicts at the workplace.  I said, I've usually worked with only women in my previous entertainment/ fashion PR & marketing career.  Then I asked them, have you ever worked with women, a lot of different women?  They said, yes.  I said if that's the case have you ever had conflict with any of the women? My response to their question was a slightly tilted head with one eyebrow up and one eyebrow down and a knowing expression that suggested, I rest my case!  Be'otches abound!

And I added, I play clean & I play fair and as a straight shooter, would deal with issues directly.  I truly believe kindness, red lipstick, humor and accessories are best for dealing with almost anything!  And for me, I see almost everything through the prism of humor!  I no longer deal with be'otches but those in my "rear view mirror," lend themselves to my Funny Women Greeting cards - like the one in this post!  There's more HERE/ VanityGallery

And dealing with be'otch women knows no complexion which is why as I'm making an effort to add even more Color Full Vanity Cases characters to my selection of greeting cards, and recently created a new one based on an existing well selling card!

My goal is to have many more Fabulous African American Vanity Cases in my shop on Etsy.  I just need to find a button that will give me 15 more minute in every day???  Don't we all!

A Card is Born - Where ideas come from -

 Soooo, one of the things I'm often asked is where do I come up with ideas for my Funny Women Cards that I sell in my Etsy VanityGallery.  Wellllll, this video will give you a little insight!  

This character, who I will be naming shortly, will be featured on some of my upcoming cards.  She's a  woman worn by the elements of her life and she wears it all with pride!  I was scrolling TikTok (where I also have funny Vanity Observations at CollenekennedyFab) and this real life person kept popping up on my FYP.

I simply loved her fab, slightly worn vibe and translated into a character.  Her hair is very large and I suspect a badge of vanity to her.  I had to doodle her the moment I saw her.  As for what she's saying, this is one of those times that the drawing came and the text came at the same time!  

What would you do if life gave you lemons?  As an eternally optimistic person, I'm always making lemonade with them, but I confess I rather like the suggestion of my character!  How bout' you?

Cankles - Simply Cankles

 My cards are my therapy!  Really.  While I try to always go forward with kindness and humor, at times "things" just have to come out in my women humor Vanity Cases cards.  I think this one speaks for itself!

Hmmmm.  Should I translate this into a card and post in my VanityGallery on Etsy?!  I'd love if you came & took a look at my 200 cards in my shop!  And tell you what, if you purchase even a single card, I'll give you a bonus card, on me!  You just have to message me you found my cards via my Fab'log!  Easy enough...right?  R'eye'eeeeeeet!  

Lipstick on your teeth - will a friend tell you?!

A good friend tells you if you have lipstick on your teeth and more importantly, if it's the right color for you!

I truly believe this and it inspired one of my consistently well selling cards - that's over ten years old!  This is just another real life situation that lends itself to ideas for my funny women greeting cards!  I keep thinking I should put together a short, lil' book entitled Lipstick Life Lines because I truly believe the secret of life comes down to lipstick!  I have no doubt we can save the world, one lipstick application at a time because when a woman is wearing the perfect color; she can rule the world!

And of course the Vanity Cases characters on my cards in my Vanity Gallery on Etsy, all are wearing lipstick and as a lipstick addict, I almost always have them in red!  

I truly can't even think of starting my day until my overlined lips are drawn and filled in with one of my billions of shades or red.  For me, it's the switch that turns my face on -  do you feel that way?!

I accessorize therefore I am fabulous...

 Yes, YOU are!

Accessories are they key to life!  Well, if not the actual key to life, they are invaluable to me taking almost any outfit from blah-to-Tah' Dahhhhh'!  

To me each day starts with brushing teeth, popping contacts in, putting make-up on, dressing and most importantly decorating with accessories!  The thing about accessories is it gives all of us the ability to be fabulous and to show that decoration is a celebration of feeling fabulation'!  I just made up that word!  *Characters on my funny women cards in my EtsyVanityGallery make up lots of words!

When working with children they are endlessly fascinated with my accessories because everyday I would have an accessory theme.  The task was to guess the theme! It could be let's say a Chinese theme when wearing my jade necklace that had the Chinese character of "Love," along with a very distinct and oversized Chinese Dragon low hanging necklace and then of course I layered a few more necklaces and every single day remains a race-to-the-elbow with bangles and bracelets!  

Along with red lipstick, my accessories complete me. Yup, just like the movie line, "You complete me," I say that accessories complete me!

And here's the funny thing, I never change my earrings, always pearls and I can wear the same outfit for days but it's the accessories that are the seasoning to the fashion meal!

Best-sellers are something I can NOT predict!  But I think because this card comes from such a place of truth and humor, it speaks to so many!  I had to deal with one or two "be'otches" last year and gotta' tell you, I stayed "clean."  That is to say, I didn't lob anything back at the "meanies" rather I shared with them the life lesson that even when one is going through hard times, it does NOT give one permission to not stay kind.

And in the end, the only drama I want is on Bravo TV with one of its "Real Housewives of this or that city!"  Don't we all get to an age where a a fat free brownie and the perfect lipstick are the key to happiness... oh and fabulous friends!

How much does it cost to create greeting cards -

 Sooooo, I'm still navigating through finding what videos I should create and post on Youtube!

I'm sooo trying to find the direction that makes the most sense for moi!  On the one hand, I want to share "behind the curtain," of what it takes to create, produce and sell greeting cards on Etsy, which is where my cards are now (TheVanityGallery).  On the other hand, I want to share a bit of a V'log or Fab'log of the life of an artiste'!

For years I licensed my cards with a biggy company or two, which meant they printed, produced and sold them.  It was very nice but in creating on my own, as the She.E.O. of The Vanity Studio, I don't have to wait for a buncha' people to approve a card or decide whether they think it's funny.  If I like it, I think it's funny or truthful, I post it and let it go!  Following my own voice has lead to over 10,000 card sales from my VanityGallery on Etsy.  Also, I can post endless new ideas, so right now there's about 200 cards to select from.  With a company, the amount is much more limited.

I'm trying to listen to my inner voice when it comes to Youtube!  And when it's not busy telling me I have lipstick on my teeth, perhaps it will tell me what content to create and post from what I call my "Fab'log!"

The IDNC club -- would you be a member?

So, I recently became aware of something called, the I Do No Care Club; IDNCC.  I realized in seeing it on TikTok that it's intended market is women navigating through peri menopause'ish times.  However, I think it's a genius concept and I see this as a FABULOUS kind of club that should have total inclusion - for all of us who simply do not care about certain things at a certain point!

I could sooooo see this as one of my funny women greeting cards that I would post in my Etsy VanityGallery.  I think I could even see it as a series of cards with different things for which at a certain point we simply don't care about!

At this point, I could care less, how many calories are in a scoop of cookie dough!  That may seem like a small thing, but I truly believe a tsp is like an RX for anything that bugs ya' & I refuse to do a calorie count! (And yes, I keep chilled cookie dough in the fridge!)

There's no crying in baseball & no day off with accessories!

I mean it!  As an accessory addict, there's no day off in adding a little decoration to one's outfit no matter how casual!  I see it as decorating a cake.  Cake is good without icing but on the other hand, icing can make all the difference in bringing it from drab to fab!  I don't know if this idea is inspired by me, or from the characters in my Funny Women Vanity Cases greeting cards!  I hope you'll click and give them a look
