Wear more accessories...

I published this post about ten years ago when I was "playing" with this Fab'log

 but I still believe it!

As an accessory addict, putting on accessories is as natural to me as brushing my teeth, putting in my contacts and starting the day with my first a coat of (red) lipstick!!  Most of my clothes are basically just simple canvas' for my "decorations!"  I always say I'm the Charlie Brown Christmas tree and need accessories as much as Charlie Brown's tree needed ornaments to shine!

Most recently, it's all about the wrist for me.  Everyday is a race to my elbow with bangles and bracelets!  I rarely spend much because I think style has nothing to do with price - it's all about one's eye!   Usually I find my accessories at flea markets, thrift shops, garage sales and I'm not gonnta lie, TJ Maxx and to my surprise, I found my fabulous Cheetah bracelet on Amazon - where it's under $20 and inspiring me to pick up for an accessory addict sister!  It shows no wear -  even though I wear it often so I felt compelled to share!!  

Besides, this accessory addict believes sharing is caring!

As regards the Vanity Cases Character in this post, I'm wondering if I should update her and add her to my Etsy VanityGallery!  And really, as we get older, or further evolve as I like to think of it, I'm certain being understated is quite overrated ... don't you think so too?!

I accessorize therefore I am fabulous...

 Yes, YOU are!

Accessories are they key to life!  Well, if not the actual key to life, they are invaluable to me taking almost any outfit from blah-to-Tah' Dahhhhh'!  

To me each day starts with brushing teeth, popping contacts in, putting make-up on, dressing and most importantly decorating with accessories!  The thing about accessories is it gives all of us the ability to be fabulous and to show that decoration is a celebration of feeling fabulation'!  I just made up that word!  *Characters on my funny women cards in my EtsyVanityGallery make up lots of words!

When working with children they are endlessly fascinated with my accessories because everyday I would have an accessory theme.  The task was to guess the theme! It could be let's say a Chinese theme when wearing my jade necklace that had the Chinese character of "Love," along with a very distinct and oversized Chinese Dragon low hanging necklace and then of course I layered a few more necklaces and every single day remains a race-to-the-elbow with bangles and bracelets!  

Along with red lipstick, my accessories complete me. Yup, just like the movie line, "You complete me," I say that accessories complete me!

And here's the funny thing, I never change my earrings, always pearls and I can wear the same outfit for days but it's the accessories that are the seasoning to the fashion meal!

Do you do it everyday??? Every single day?

There is not a day that I don't do it!  I'm talking about accessorizing!  Whether I'm going out, staying in, feeling great, have a cold, going to see lotsa' people, will see nobody, there's not a day that goes by that I don't accessorize!

I feel like that little or lot of decoration is like seasoning on plain food; it gives flavor!  I actually tend to create a theme everyday and because I have far more jewelry, mostly costume, but there's real in there to, it's easy to come up with themes.  And by finding much in thrift stores, vintage shops, garage sales, Good Will, etc., hopefully I reflect you don't have to spend a million to look like a million!  I'm actually more likely to brag about my finds as soooooo much of the time, I find goodies for under $10!

Since my VanityCases characters in my VanityCasesGreeting cards are an extension of moi, much of the humor is about accessorizing...oh, and good hair, lipstick, shoes, etc!  I hope you'll come take a look aby clicking on the links provided!

This self-confessed Accessory Addict layers accessories around the neck

Oh yes!  I went there in the day time!  I layered three or four chains and necklaces and I thought the result was quite smashing!  

If you can layer clothes, why not accessories?!  And here's the deal, I wore my "triple play" fancy-schmancy necklaces with a simple fitted  black T-shirt [from Target and of which I have 4), under my simple black J.Crew jacket.  What can I say, the J.Crew jackets work for me in that they are the blank canvas I need to "paint" my accessory styling!

The necklaces are a vintage diamondy' chocker from my Mother in law, and I imagine from the 40s because the stones are glass and the clasp has a vintage closure with a safety chain .  I kept it in a jewelry box for years and recently thought, WHY?  What am I waiting for to be fancy!  Why not make an effort to be fabulously fancy everyday!?  

In addition to the vintage piece, I wrapped a silver diamond cut, Cuban link chain wrapped twice around and which I used in a previous incarnation connecting two crystal circle pins on two lapels.  And while it might be hard to see, I added a "gold like" rope 16 inch chain to this triple play necklace layering. I will forever like the blending of gold and silver -

And it's almost always a race to my elbows with bracelets and bangles everyday that of course have to "sing along" with whatever my accessory theme is for the given day.  This largish' cuff was is a fab' steal from a Jersey boardwalk shop and dare I brag, less than or about ten dollars!  I combined with vintage Monet snake chain bracelet and a slim gold cuff, given to me by my Mom a millionty years ago which always shines like a million dollars after I brush / refresh it with a little toothpaste.  Yes.  Toothpaste fore me shines my gold, my white gold and platinum.  

Most of the characters in my Vanity Cases funny women greeting cards are over accessorized and I still don't know, are they me or am I them.  I just know a day without accessories is ....crickets chirping...somethings are simply unimaginable!
