One's Standards may be low ... but....

Eve says that one's standards may be low, but one still has to live up to them!  

Live it up!   This Vanity Case is part of what I call my Vanity Reality Series as Even is based on a real person!

This character was based on someone I knew who always, but always wore a turban, dressed in starched, pressed and creased PJs all day and always wore very, very white kids!  She reminded me of Edie Beale of Grey Gardens, who I would learn about years later, but at the time, I just thought she was nifty, eccentric and too fabulous!

But she also reflected, one has to create their own personal standards and then live up to em!

PS... Sooooo sorry I've been remiss with adding new images and pithy observations!  Will do my best to pick up the pace and consistency!  I blame it all on my two divine kiddos with whom I find myself picking up after, working on homework and school projects, playing with and/ or just getting a kick outta' most of the time!

When people ask where do I get ideas for my art, honestly, it's almost always from looking in the mirror (at this ever eroding face).  With Vanity as the nucleus of my woman-to-woman humor for my greeting cards or the prints in my Etsy Vanity Gallery, the ideas are almost always from something that has to do with my daily routine of puttin' on the fabulousness!  I know, I know, being fabulous comes from the inside, blah, blah, blah, but for me, it also comes from decorating the outside with requisite lipstick, powder and pearls!

So instead of looking into the mirror for a humor idea, what would YOU like to see in the form of a Vanity humor; what subject is on your mind?  Whether you are thinking of shopping, shoes, chocolate, good hair or bad hair days, yoga or wha'ever... leave a comment or email me and I'll see what I can come up with!

Glamour Girl / Glamour Gal drawings... they just popped out of my pen!

For ever and ever when I was in my twenties, Glamour Gal illustrations would emerge from my pens n' pencils. They seemed to all have some story that they would share with me as I doodled away. To say the least, they were always very entertaining. The Glam' Gals seem to be emerging again and most often they are sharing the key qualities that keep a Glam' Gal just that, Glam! And what's not to love about Glamour! I even love the word and had it in a frame for years!

And the "Charlie Brown Christmas Tree" theory is why I don't so much as go to the busstop with my second grader or drop off my pre-schooler without, at the very least, lipstick, powder & pearls.... and likely a bit of mascara, blush, some bracelets, a fabulous ring, a scarf, dark sunglasses and a bag... but other than that, I can fly outta' the house at a moment's notice!

This is a fun postcard that could be used as a birthday note... I was lyin' around & thinking... I hope you have a happy birthday or, we have to get together - or, we need girlfriend time, etc., etc!
