Do you Declutter Friends?

 

We declutter our houses, organize our shelves and closets and such, so why not declutter friends?!  And what better time than the New Year!  

I say, just like going through let's say, your shoes, if you find your holding on to pairs that don't feel  good or make your feet hurt, why keep em'?  It's time to let them go!  There are different stages and phases for such things.  Isn't the same true of friendships?  

If friendships aren't nurturing your "sole/soul" appreciate them for what they gave you, when they gave you something you needed, but move on.  Right?  Right!

I must have created this about 6 or so years ago and I still believe it to be true!  And what better time than the New Year to edit the friends or people with that figure head title that don't deserve!  I truly believe friends should be like the perfect lipstick or accessory; they make you feel better about yourself and give you that lil' extra somethin' special!

This Vanity Cases character is inspired by someone I watch on TikTok and yes, I watch far tooo much TikTok!  But I don't apologize!  I consider it "work," because I never know when or where I'm going to be creatively inspired!  Right?  R'eye'eeeet"!

How to make stickers super easy and without a cutting machine!

 Honestly, stickers are fabulous at any age and if you watch this video, you will see my suggestions for ways to use for us "adults," (are we adults or just older kids?!).  Super easy and anyone can do it.  Great as gifts or for YOURSELF!!!

Of cours I work out every day...

 I work out what accessories I'm going to wear!

I mean seriously, I can't imagine a day without two elements; accessories and requisite red lipstick!  Can you?!  

My feeling about accessories is I believe the opposite of what Coco Chanel believed.  I think she said something to the effect of dress one's self, complete with accessories, look in the mirror and take one thing off!  Wha'???

Are you kidding me?  I add three things on!  Let's be extra with no apologies and decorate even the most basic outfits with necklaces, brooches - why stop at one, and have a race to the elbow with bangles and bracelets!

It's not what you do but the way that you do it...

 So I found this old drawing while looking through my files and thought, how true?!

We can all do similar things but it's how we do it, what we invest into it, that make all the difference!  For me, when I'm in a cranky mood, rather than marinate in it, I find I go out and about & end up talking or engaging with others and more often than not, leaving them laughing!  So what does that do?  It helps my cranky, bad mood disseminate!

I take the bad mood & use it to propel me forward and next thing you know, I'm doing just that movin' forward!  I think I should refine, maybe slightly redo this drawing and create a card for my VanityGallery on Etsy!

Who says we can't be deep and fabulous at the same time?!

 

I so have to create this Vanity Case character pondering a deep question while doing a yoga pose!

And it's true, sometimes I will contemplate something deep and thoughtful and other times, I'll put that same level of exploration and mindfulness into selecting my accessories for that particular day!  That's just a lil' ol' pithy Vanity Reflection from me today!

Go for the gold!!!

What in the world are we waiting for to "go for the gold?!"

For some that may mean accessories, as it does for me, a self confessed accessory addict! Whether I'm working from home or not on any given day, I'm decorating and going for the gold - real and fake!

But going for the gold can also be simple everyday goals!  I mean really, what are we waiting for to do something special, wear something special, use something special, or share something special - even making a phone call to someone special to us!

I remember reading that Barbra Streisand (I've luuuuuuuuuuuved since I was a kid & have seen live three times), had a gift of soaps from her stepfather.   She kept the unopened soap for years opting not to use them as they were a gift.  Well, as I recall, she finally opened the gifted soaps and used them.  It didn't diminish the gift or the memory but rather celebrated being in the moment. As she asked herself, what was she waiting for to open the gift soaps?!

What are we all waiting for to celebrate the gold in our lives?

So don't save that something special -  use it, do it, appreciate it!

PS, As a Streisandaholic' I'm sure I know that the relation with her stepfather was less than loving but I suppose it meant something that he was giving her a gift if not way overdue!

I so agree with Miss Apfel, no matter what life throws you, always prioritize and accessorize!

On my worst day, I will have red lipstick and be fully accessorized to put myself into first gear!  It's all about celebrating one's self with a little decoration!  And don't we all deserve a little deocation?

A quick little check in about good hair days!

I mean really, doesn't everything feel right in the world when one is having a good hair day?  And don't things feel like they are going off the rails when having a bad hair day?!  Seriously, it may seem superficial but it's really not at all.  When you look good, you feel good and when you feel good you do good?  Right?  R'eye'eeeeeeeeeet!
